Reflection 10 Blog as a Communicative Tool

What is blog?

Blog is an online journal where an individual, group, or corporation presents a record of activities, thoughts, or beliefs. Some blogs operate mainly as news filters, collecting various online sources and adding short comments and Internet links.

Benefits of Blogging

1.      To share passion.

2.      To educate others.

3.      To gain exposure.

4.      To build authority.

5.      To have content to share.

6.      To learn new things.

7.      To improve writing skills.

8.      To earn.

9.      You can connect with new people.

10.  You can get immediate feedback.

Disadvantages of Blogging

  • 1.      Whatever you publish is available for everyone to see. If you write a post in anger you might regret it later.
  • 2.      Personal blogs may be biased or contain inaccurate information.
  • 3.      Blogs can be time consuming. Finding time to write regular updates can become a chore.
  • 4.      People may leave rude or inappropriate comments.
  • 5.      There are many very dull blogs around. You may have to look at many before you find some worth reading.

As a result, as teachers, we should include ICT tools into our teaching and learning and provide abundant opportunity for children to learn through resources such as blogs while also providing assistance and direction. Furthermore, as teachers, we should be able to teach students how to use a blog step by step and ensure that they use it for educational purposes.
